The remainings of the baroque palace house the district museum. Originally there was a castle here, built by the Radziwill family in the 16th century. It was surrounded by the earth fortifications with a moat in the shape of a star.
In the 17th century the castle was damaged by the Swedes, then it was transformed into a baroque palace. As it was gradually demolished during the 19th century and then destroyed during the last world war, only outbuildings, gatehouse, chapel and outline of fortifications have remained of the castle.
