Initially a Gothic fort rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century in a Renaissance castle. Again rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century in Baroque style. The castle acquired its present shape in the beginning of the 20th century. In 1929 the Zlin city bought the building.
The castle is a seat of the South-East Moravia Museum and of the Regional Gallery of Visual Arts. There is also a restaurant and a wine bar in the castle.
