Romania

Romania lies in the central and Southeastern Europe and it is the ninth largest territory among the EU member states. Bucharest is not just the capital city and the largest city in Romania but it is also European Union’s sixth largest city with a population of about 1.9 million people.

The metropolitan area of its capital city has about 2.2 million people and there are plans to increase this area. As Romania is a secular state, it does not have any national religion but the dominant religious body in the country is the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Basically, Romania is an upper middle income economy. The tourism industry is a vital part of the country’s economy because it contributes to the GDP of Romania. The rich history as well as the natural landscapes of Romania attracts visitors from worldwide to its land.

In the year 2006, the tourism industry employed about 5.8% of the total workforce in the country and the GDP of the country during this year was 4.8%. Commerce is the largest component of the service sector and the second place is taken by the tourism industry.

It is being said that Romania is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world.

    The Thick Tower, Sibiu

    The thick tower, built in the 16th century, is a massive building made of rock at the bottom and brick at the upper part. The tower has several levels for defence and a cannon platform. The white and yellow coloured tower has a peculiar outlook with the holes and windows of different sizes and forms.

    Turnu Rosu Castle (Red Tower), Boita

    Was originally a defensive military construction, built by the Saxons in 1360, near Boita, Sibiu county. It was completed in 1370 under King Louis I of Hungary in order to survey the Olt River Gorge, located near the old border with Romanian State.
